Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)

More about Mindful Self-Compassion

Self-compassion is treating ourselves during times of struggle like we would treat a good friend…with kindness and understanding. It is the opposite of what we often do…meeting ourselves with criticism, perfectionism, blame and shame. Self-compassion is like a balm that soothes us during difficult times.

Mindful Self-Compassion is an internationally recognized program focused on teaching the skills of self-compassion for improved emotional wellbeing. It is based on the ground-breaking research of Dr. Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Dr. Christopher Germer. It uses mindful awareness of the present moment to detect even brief periods of struggle and then encourages greater kindness and care in relating to ourselves during these difficult times.

Research shows it not only makes us more compassionate to ourselves, but also more compassionate towards others because we recognize ourselves and the common humanity in the struggles of others.

Additional benefits include less anxiety, depression, stress and shame while fostering greater happiness and connectivity.

“A moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life.”
– Chris Germer, Co-Founder MSC
